Software is increasingly shaping vehicle functions, while at the same time more and more data is being generated and used for new applications. This transformation opens up new possibilities for connected vehicles and services, but also presents vehicle manufacturers with growing technical and regulatory challenges. Knorr-Bremse is actively shaping this transformation and will demonstrate at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hanover (September 15–20, 2026, Hall 12, Booth C21) how the vehicle network is evolving into a seamless digital ecosystem—from vehicle architecture to the trailer and into the aftermarket.
Bernd Spies, Member of the Executive Board of Knorr-Bremse AG and responsible for the Commercial Vehicle Systems Division: “The future of commercial vehicles is software-driven and connected. This development opens up new opportunities for all market participants. That is why we are consistently evolving our offering from individual products toward integrated digital service and system solutions. For OEMs, we are focusing on open, manufacturer-independent platforms. At the same time, with the CVS Service Platform, we are systematically expanding our digital offerings for vehicle operations and the aftermarket.”
CVS Service Platform: Digital Infrastructure for OEMs and the Aftermarket
The CVS Service Platform brings together Knorr-Bremse’s digital solutions for OEMs, fleets, and workshops. It integrates software, diagnostics, and service into a fully digital system for connected vehicles and services. In this way, the platform helps simplify operational and service processes and make them more efficient. Both OEM solutions and digital applications for the aftermarket are built on this platform.
Mastering Digital Vehicle Architectures and Compliance
As the proportion of software in vehicles increases, the demands on cybersecurity, updates, and compliance rise significantly. Regulations such as UN ECE R155 on cybersecurity and UN ECE R156 for software updates require end-to-end digital processes to manage software versions securely and transparently. Knorr-Bremse supports OEMs with an ISO 24089-certified Software Update Management System (SUMS), which is integrated into the cloud-based Online Configuration Tool (OCT) and is already in series production. Software and configuration versions can be managed in a structured manner, updates can be rolled out automatically, and processes from production to the aftermarket can be digitally mapped. This results in stable, efficient workflows within an end-to-end process chain. These workflows help OEMs reduce operating costs, simplify processes, and efficiently comply with regulatory requirements.
Knorr-Bremse has already established this architecture in the trailer sector: The electronic trailer braking system iTEBS® X combines braking functions, sensors, and control in a scalable system architecture. Additionally, other trailer systems are fully integrated into SUMS—including brake control systems such as iTEPM (Intelligent Trailer Electro-Pneumatic Module) and TRM (Trailer Roadtrain Module), the iXPAND (Intelligent Electronic Port Expander) expansion interface, as well as tire pressure monitoring systems such as iTPMS (Intelligent Tire Pressure Monitoring System) and third-party systems. Diagnostic, update, and software processes are thereby transformed into integrated digital workflows. In this way, Knorr-Bremse lays the groundwork for future E/E architectures, over-the-air updates, and automated functions within vehicle networks.
Open platforms expand the digital ecosystem
In addition, Knorr-Bremse is working with partners to expand its offering to include open platforms such as the Cojali Digital Hub. This manufacturer-independent platform enables OEMs to consolidate various software applications into a centralized, cyber-secure environment. Software update packages can thus be managed centrally, from production through to the aftermarket. Remote software updates (over-the-air) are fully integrated into diagnostic and connectivity solutions. More efficient processes help reduce costs, ensure service quality, and strengthen customer loyalty. At the same time, OEMs retain control over their data, systems, and applications and can flexibly adapt the platform to their requirements. The Cojali Digital Hub will be presented at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hall 12 at both the Knorr-Bremse and Cojali (Booth B23) booths.
Digital Applications Throughout the Service Process
Based on the CVS Service Platform, Knorr-Bremse offers applications for fleet and workshop processes. The applications can be used independently and can be flexibly combined with one another. When used together, they create additional value for fleets and workshops.
Simplifying OEM Diagnostics: Through Cojali, Knorr-Bremse offers telematics and diagnostic solutions. Jaltest Telematics analyzes vehicles while they are in operation, while Jaltest Diagnostics, in combination with Knorr-Bremse Diagnostics, enables powerful multi-brand diagnostics. The partnership also includes the development of OEM-specific diagnostic solutions. They integrate different supplier and vehicle systems into a unified diagnostic platform, thereby simplifying diagnostic and service processes.
Efficiently organizing workshop processes: PleaseFix connects fleets and workshops via a digital platform for scheduling and capacity management. Maintenance work can be coordinated early on, workshop capacity can be utilized more effectively, and service processes can be managed more efficiently.
Transparently analyze workshop performance: WESP CV enables the comparison of key performance indicators across workshops. This allows for data-driven improvements in productivity, utilization, and processes.
Digitally manage in-operation services: With TRAVIS Road Services, operators and drivers gain digital access to services such as parking, charging, cleaning, or repairs—from booking to centralized billing.
